This section deals with formal and informal programs and courses on the work of Marshall McLuhan, the Toronto School ( McLuhan, Innis, Havelock, Carpenter and successors), and media ecology.

February 2008 With several partners the McLuhan global research network is exploring a Civic Curriculum that answers the question What does a citizen need to know to be effective in the 21st Century? We are also working on an alternative curriculum for Citizen Journalists.

January 2008 We held a curriculum session on alternative curriculum, and will be adapting the book City as Classroom to our new project on Civic Literacy. We are also developing a curriculum for Civic Journalism ( as part of the new Civex project). Check netizen-news.ca and the facebook group mcluhan global research network for details.
